You can file a complaint about a dry cleaner in New York City that: 

  • Damages your clothing 
  • Refuses to give you a refund 
  • Fails to deliver goods or services 
  • Overcharges
  • Charges different prices for men and women for the same service. 

The Department of Consumer Affairs can also direct you to the proper authorities if a dry cleaner closes down without returning your clothing. The City does not license dry cleaners and cannot force closed dry cleaner businesses to return your clothing.

What Happens Next

To receive follow up on your request, you must provide your address. The Agency will mail you a complaint form, which you must complete and return. If you also provide an email address with your Service Request, you will receive the form by email instead. Be sure to check your spam folder in addition to your inbox.

The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection does not accept reports of rude employee behavior. You should report this type of complaint to the business.
