If you are a tenant living in a building while construction work is ongoing, the building's owner is required to post or distribute a Safe Construction Bill of Rights and post and distribute a Notice regarding the Tenant Protection Plan (TPP) for occupants.

The Safe Construction Bill of Rights (SCBR) describes the work being conducted and alerts tenants of amenities or essential services that will be unavailable or interrupted during the construction. The SCBR must be distributed to each tenant or posted in the lobby and on every floor within 10 feet of every elevator bank or in a building with no elevator, within 10 feet or inside of every main stairwell.

The Tenant Protection Plan (TPP) Notice, using a Department of Buildings' (DOB) created template, informs tenants that a permit has been issued by DOB for work in the building and provides contact information for a person in control of the site.

The TPP Notice must be distributed to each tenant, and posted in the lobby and on every floor within 10 feet of every elevator bank or in a building with no elevator, within 10 feet or inside of every main stairwell.

Tenants may obtain a paper copy of their building’s Tenant Protection Plan (TPP) from the owner or access the plan on DOB's website.
